Antti Belt, based in BCG’s Helsinki office and a Managing Director and Partner, was named a Fellow in 2024. Antti’s research explores what leaders from all industries and government bodies can learn from commodities trading—an industry that has flourished under the uncertainty and volatility created by recent macroeconomic shocks. Antti’s research aims to explore three topics:

• Demystifying what commodities traders do
• Determining the unique characteristics of how traders operate
• Identifying the lens that traders provide that can help leaders to endure volatility and increase resilience

Since joining BCG in 2007, Antti has worked in sectors such as oil, utilities, and mining, with a focus on trading strategy, analytics, and operating models. He specializes in the digital transformation of commodities trading.

Antti has developed trading algorithms and machine learning models across multiple energy and industrial sectors and is a leading voice on digitizing commodity trading, frequently speaking at industry events and in financial media.

Before BCG, he ran a trading business that developed quantitative strategies for hedge funds and engaged in proprietary trading.

Outside of work, Antti enjoys spending time in the mountains – mountain climbing, ski mountaineering and ultra trail running.
